In this production of Romeo and Juliet, we focus on the utter youth of our characters. The romcom feeling of the first half of the play, with its decadent humor and resplendent love is irrevocably shattered by a death. At this turning point all the distancing glamour cracks and fades away, leaving our characters in an all too familiar modern reality. The kids are just kids, and like now, have been failed by the adults that are supposed to protect them from needing to grow up too quickly.
